Gen-la Khyenrab – Public Talk 19 Nov

Understanding Our Mind – Buddhist Psychology for Modern Life

Tuesday 19 Nov 7pm – 8.30pm

“Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we really want to be truly happy and free from suffering we must improve our understanding of the mind.“

The essence of spiritual practice is to reduce and eventually to eradicate altogether our anger and uncontrolled desire, and to replace them with permanent inner peace. This is the real meaning of our human life. The essential point of understanding the mind is that liberation from suffering cannot be found outside the mind.

Join us for a very special evening with visiting Internationally renowned teacher and Buddhist monk, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab. Gen-la Khyenrab is one of the most senior teachers within the New Kadampa Buddhist tradition and he will visit Aberdeen for the first time to offer this public talk.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to find out more about Buddhist psychology and its practical application to modern life.  During the evening we will get an introduction to the nature and many functions of the mind.  We can discover how to understand and work with our own mind in meditation and in daily life to solve our problems and find real happiness.  We will also learn how to make our meditations effective so that they bring real results.

Based on the book – How to Understand the Mind  by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, which is an extraordinary book – at once practical and profound. Wherever you are on your spiritual path, this book is indispensable.

Following the talk there will be complimentary refreshments – mocktails & vegetarian canapés in the cafe area – which is included in the ticket price.

Everybody is welcome.

Entrance: Non-member £19, Member £12.65, Concessions (student or low-income) £12.65

"Just finished the last session of the retreat. It was wonderful & I managed to make it work around my busy, noisy house & family.  I felt very held through the meditations, even though it wasn't live, just incredible really. Thankyou 🙏🧡"
