Celebrating Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Every day we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, our root Guru and Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.

But on the auspicious day June 4th, which is both Turning the Wheel of Dharma day and Venerable Geshe-la’s birthday, at Kadampa centres around the world, with minds of rejoicing and gratitude, we offer him our faith through using the special prayer Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples and collecting our Guru’s name mantra in a one-day retreat.

Everyone is welcome to join. You can drop in to any of the sessions or join for the whole day. The first three sessions will include chanted prayers with 30 minutes for silent mantra recitation. The final session will be Offering to the Spiritual Guide Prayers with food offerings. The retreat will be unguided so please arrive fifteen minutes before the session start time so that our helpers can show you what to do and answer any questions you have.

The sadhana or prayers booklets used for the first three sessions will be Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land according to Highest Yoga Tantra and Request to the Venerable Holy Spiritual Guide Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche from his Faithful Disciples. The final session will be Offering to the Spiritual Guide Prayers with food offerings.
