A Half Day Retreat

The True Nature of Reality

The True Nature of Reality

Join us for this half day retreat where we will contemplate and meditate on Buddha’s teachings on the profound view of emptiness, the true nature of reality. By meditating on emptiness we can realise that our self and all the things we normally see don’t exist; and that our world and all phenomena are merely appearances to mind, like the things seen in a dream. Through this wisdom we can learn to let go, live lightly in our world, keep a happy mind and ultimately become free from suffering.

To use an analogy, when we dream at night we believe the dream appearances are real and, in the case of a nightmare, we experience many painful emotions such as fear and anxiety. When we wake up in the morning we realise, with relief, it was just a dream and that it never truly existed.
In the same way in our daily life we believe that the world is real and, as a result, we experience constant fear and insecurity.

By meditating on the true nature of reality, we can experience the bliss of the endless space-like emptiness of our self and all phenomena, and awaken from this dream-like suffering to find permanent liberation.
