The Perfect Retreat Getaway

Enjoy a restful and uplifting weekend retreat on the Moray coast in Portsoy, a wonderful place for peace and reflection. In this tranquil setting, within easy reach of Aberdeen and Inverness, you can enjoy a restful meditation retreat, discover an inner calm and develop inspiring new insights on life.

The Retreat

Buddhist nun, Kelsang Yonchen, will guide this weekend meditation retreat presenting methods to increase your resilience and flexibility by contemplating Buddha’s ancient wisdom, made practical for this modern world.

When unexpected or unwished for circumstances arise it is very easy to become disheartened, overwhelmed or simply unhappy. Through understanding that our real problems are the inner difficulty of painful thoughts and feelings, we can learn how to overcome these and replace them with peaceful, contented states of mind.

During this retreat, by practising in meditation and throughout the day we can begin to develop the beautiful mind of patient acceptance, and the inner strength and flexibility that comes with it. Eventually we will be able to remain peaceful and happy when we encounter even the most difficult situations.

Practicalities
Between meditations you can enjoy walking by the sea and on the coastal path, sitting in the garden by the stream, relaxing in the outdoor hot-tub or wandering around the 17th Century historic harbour.

Parts of the retreat will be held in silence to deepen the peaceful experience, and participants are asked to turn off their devices for the duration.

For those coming from further away, it is possible to get lifts from Aberdeen, and we can help arrange overnight accommodation in Aberdeen before and after the course.

The retreat begins on Friday with dinner at 6pm and first session at 7:30pm, and finishes at 4pm on Sunday. All food is vegetarian. (Vegan and gluten free catered for on request)

"I enjoyed the 3 meditation sessions & how they were guided.  Even as a beginner, I learned to how to focus on my breathing, especially when my mind decided to wander off.  This improved my confidence in my ability to meditate.  I also really enjoyed the teachings and how well they were explained and the examples given."
