Tuesday Meditation Class 7 – 8.15pm

Peace, Love and Tranquility

“We are so used to being stimulated from the outside that we find it difficult to be quiet and enjoy the stillness of our own mind.”

Join us for a gentle four week meditation course exploring the themes of peace, love and tranquility.  In our busy modern world it takes a conscious decision to calm the mind, limit our distracting thoughts, and find peace.

Through training in meditation we can release our mind from worry, anxiety, stress and tension.  Instead we can learn how to concentrate on positive meditations such as love that protect us from suffering, bring happiness and create a serene stillness within our own mind.

July 1 – Finding stillness and peace

July 8 – Protecting your mind with love

July 15 – Enjoying tranquility from within

July 22 – Life without stress

Secrets of Self-Esteem

No matter how confident or successful we seem on the outside, deep down it is common to feel inadequate or insecure. In our modern life we tend to focus on external things to bolster our confidence such as our appearance, status, possessions and attainments.  Not only are these things vulnerable to change but they don’t really bring the sense of self-worth we long for.

In this 2- week course we will explore what real inner confidence and self-esteem actually are and how to use Buddhist meditation practices to cultivate these.  When we are validated from within, we understand our own potential and self worth.  We are able to cultivate positive states of mind and truly benefit others.  In this way we can use meditation to be confident & happy in our lives.

Each session includes guided meditations and a teaching. After the class, there is the opportunity to discuss the course with other participants, browse the bookshop or enjoy a relaxing cuppa.

All welcome – no previous experience necessary

20 Aug – Self esteem, self confidence & the key to happiness

Sept 3 Free Talk

Freedom from Anxiety & Depression

As part of our commitment to mental health and well-being we are delighted to be offering this free talk.  Free your mind with meditation and discover a simple but profound alternative to the experiences of anxiety, stress and depression that are so common in our modern lifestyle.

In our fast paced world, with all of its challenges, many people struggle with difficult states of mind.  These can come at any time of life and weigh us down – taking away our joy in life and leading to physical, emotional and social issues.

Fortunately there are practical meditation techniques to recognise, reduce and let go of anxiety in all its various forms and to find the peace, joy and inner ease that we long for.

This talk will help us to better understand our anxiety and our depression, and how through training in meditation we can discover new ways of thinking, feeling and responding to prevent negative minds from taking hold.

During the evening there will be two different guided meditations that directly tackle anxiety & depression.

For those wishing to continue the training the free event will be followed by a six week meditation training programme at the same time each week.

This free course is part of our mental health & well-being series, supported by the National fund.
